Optimizing the Development of Battery Electric Vehicle

IBC has a strategic role in accelerating BEV ecosystem

Center for Policy and Public Management (CPPM) SBM ITB published the latest policy brief regarding electric vehicle on May 17. It aimed to propose a corporate strategy to optimize the development of Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) in Indonesia. The research employs in-depth interviews with the prominent person in the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime and Investment Affairs, PLN, Pertamina, and MIND ID, who are actively involved in the BEV development project. The strategy is based on stakeholder and value chain analysis approaches, followed by the corporate strategy formulations, namely vertical integration, the build-borrow-buy framework, and strategic alliances which have been done by Dr. Agung Wicaksono and Benriwan.

“Despite IBC's strategic and vital role in accelerating BEV development, massive Government policies, industrial facilities, and well-informed community are required.”

In order to make a significant contribution, BEV development must actively involves various stakeholders namely; government, industry, academic/research institutions, media, and the community. Earlier this month, a Heads of Agreement has been signed by Indonesia Battery Corporation (IBC) with a battery consortium, namely LG from South Korea, which indicates it will start very soon. Despite IBC's strategic and vital role in accelerating BEV development, massive Government policies, industrial facilities, and well-informed community are required.
